Flashback Friday, vintage

Flashback Friday is Vintage Chic and my grandmother Bea

We all have that one picture of an ancestor that we are just so taken with.

There is just something so lovely and charming, and you cant help but be drawn to it.

I have this photo of my grandmother and I absolutely love it. I look at it all the time, it just makes me happy because I love how happy she looks!

a little history

This photo was taken in the 1934, the thought was it was taken on her family farm in Michigan.

My grandfather (her fiance at the time) was the photographer.

Perhaps that is how he was able to capture the calm and serene look in her eyes and spirit.

This photo came to my dad in 2000 when my grandmother passed, and it was one I had never seen before!

He didn’t have much information on it, but I made a copy and have one here at the house and on my computer. I was able to learn the details of this beauty from cousin who is our unofficial family historian…and a great source and inspiration to me!

LOOK HOW CUTE AND CHIC SHE LOOKS IN HER JAUNTY BERET AND HALF TRENCH! And that sly half smile…get outta town with the sweetness overload of this photo!!

channeling my inner Beatrice

The other day with weather starting to turn, I realized I had to buy a new jacket.

In trying items on at the store I pulled one out that was NOT normally my style.

But I tried it anyway and fell in love with it. I purchased the jacket but I couldnt put my finger on why I loved this jacket so much. What it reminded me of… I happened to take another look at this photo, and realized my new jacket looks almost exactly like the jacket my grandmother wore 80+ years ago!

Definitely channeling my inner Beatrice!

I realized my brother has a daughter that could be my grandmothers twin, so I sent him a copy and told him my niece was a dead ringer.

I had never noticed that before. He had never noticed that either.

How many times have I looked at this photo? TONS! and I JUST noticed how much one particular relative resembles her.

To me, that’s the beauty of family history. No matter how many times we have looked at or seen something, we can always find one more thing to connect us. For me it was a jacket. For my brother it was seeing the resemblance of his daughter to his grandmother.
