WEEK 20: Motherhood and expectations
This week think about your mother and think back to when you were younger and thought about impending motherhood.
Fast forward to becoming a mother.
Have you ever opened your mouth and your mom pops out?
Or did you decide early on “I will never be like that when I grow up”, then stick to your guns?
Is life and parenthood easier or harder than expected?
Questions to consider
- what expectations did you have of the kind of mother you would be? What is the reality?
- was there anything your mother did that you swore you would never do? Is there anything she did that you carried on?
- Is being a mother or parent easier or harder than you expected? Why?
- If you could go back and tell your younger self about your mother, what would it be?
- Do you every do or say something that reminds you of your mother?
- how has your view or thoughts of motherhood changed over time?
